School of Artificial Intelligence

The School of Artificial Intelligence (Intelligent Transport Industry School) was originally established as the Department of Transport Information Engineering in 2002 and was upgraded to the School of Transport Information Engineering in 2020. In response to the national strategy for artificial intelligence and informatization, it was officially renamed the School of Artificial Intelligence (Intelligent Transportation Industry School) in March 2025. Over the past two decades, it has provided nearly 20,000 intelligent transportation application-oriented talents to the transportation industry.

The school currently has 84 staff members, with 84% being 'dual-qualified' teachers, 26% holding senior titles, and 81% having master's degrees or higher. It includes one national technical expert, five provincial teaching masters and technical experts, and 35 people selected for provincial and ministerial expert databases. Additionally, 32 individuals have received expert certifications from Huawei and Cisco among other industries. This has formed an innovative teaching team that integrates digital intelligence and education creation, including the intelligent transportation technology teaching team and the Guangxi Comprehensive Transportation Safety and Management Innovation Team, both recognized by the Transport Department.

As of April 2025, the school has 4,312 full-time students. It offers eight specialized majors and programs, including computer application technology, intelligent transportation technology, and big data technology. The school collaborates with leading companies like Huawei to establish industry-academy institutes. It boasts national backbone majors, national training bases, national production-oriented training bases, and is a pilot for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's Big Data Industry-Education Integration Digital Practice Center. Additionally, it serves as a talent cultivation base for the National Engineering Laboratory for Comprehensive Transportation Big Data Applications in Guangxi.

The school has created the 'Huixin' Party building brand and been approved as a unit for cultivating and creating a national model party branch (Batch Four). It is also part of the Guangxi universities' 'Double Leader' initiative team for teacher party branch secretaries on a 'Strong Nation Journey' special action plan, and it has received funding for the Guangxi universities' 'Three Comprehensive Education' exemplary college project (Class A). Under the leadership of its party building efforts, the school has achieved remarkable results in talent cultivation, platform construction, educational reform and scientific research, as well as social services over the past five years.

The school implements an integrated education model combining positions, courses, competitions, and certifications, resulting in fruitful outcomes in skills competitions. Among these, it has won 10 first prizes at the national level, a total of 32 national awards, and 372 awards at the autonomous region level or higher. The school's performance in vocational skills competitions ranks among the top in the region. It has led the development of three textbooks for the '14th Five-Year Plan', and jointly developed 12 nationally published textbooks with enterprises. It has also been approved for one national online excellent course, three high-quality international courses, one standard for cultivating international students, and three ASEAN vocational education standards. Additionally, it provides international services such as skill certification and technical training to seven ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand. The school has received one second prize and one special prize for teaching achievements at the national and autonomous region levels, respectively.

The school has been awarded six municipal or higher-level scientific research platforms, including the Guangxi Center of the National Engineering Laboratory for Comprehensive Transportation Big Data Application Technology and the Smart Transportation Collaborative Innovation Center. It also has two university-level centers (the Virtual Simulation Resource Research and Creation Center and the Course Digital Resource Service Center). Leveraging its technological innovation and social service platforms, it has completed two national scientific research projects, six provincial or ministerial-level projects, twenty-four municipal or departmental-level projects, and nine horizontal projects. It has applied for and obtained 33 patents and 65 software copyrights, and published two monographs on scientific theoretical research. Additionally, over the past three years, it has hosted more than 30 specialized training and certification examination projects, cumulatively training and testing 67,800 people, significantly promoting the deep integration of the profession with the industry.

In the future, the school will continue to uphold its motto of 'establishing character, pursuing knowledge, mastering skills, and cultivating the body,' and promote the 'ambitious, innovative, responsible, and excellent' spirit of the transportation academy. It will deepen the construction of interdisciplinary fields combining 'artificial intelligence and transportation,' aiming for the goals of 'entering the national dual-high list and creating a vocational undergraduate program.' The school will strive to become a hub for cultivating talent in smart transportation for China and ASEAN, contributing wisdom and strength to the strategy of building a strong transportation nation and the construction of a beautiful Guangxi in the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
