Located in Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China and under the jurisdiction of the Guangxi Autonomous Region Department of Transport, Guangxi Transport Vocational and Technical College (GTVTC) is a higher education institution that cultivates high-quality technical and skilled personnel in transportation.

With a long history, GTVTC is formerly known as Guangxi Transport School that was founded in 1958 and promoted in 2002 to a college that offers higher vocational education. Over the 67 years since its establishment, GTVTC has graduated over 160,000 students for the national transportation industry and the economic and social development of Guangxi, making itself the "cradle of transportation talents in Guangxi".

Adhering to its mission of cultivating talents for the Party and the country, GTVTC has achieved fruitful results and ranking among the top higher vocational colleges in the western region of China. It has been selected as a national high-quality specialized higher vocational college, a recipient of the Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award for outstanding schools (the first and only recipient of the National Teaching Achievement Award in Guangxi), an advanced collective in the national education system, an advanced collective in national textbook construction, one of the first pilot schools for digital campus construction in national vocational colleges, one of the first pilot units for modern apprenticeship systems, a national model vocational college for transportation education, a national civilized unit in the transportation industry, a base for recruiting and training soldiers for the Navy, an excellent college in the first round of 'Double High' evaluation in Guangxi, an A-class school in the new round of 'Double High' construction in Guangxi, one of the first characteristic universities in Guangxi, a pilot school for international exchanges and cooperation in higher vocational education in Guangxi, a pilot school for deepening educational evaluation reform in the new era in Guangxi, the only designated school for direct recruitment of military non-commissioned officers in Guangxi, and a demonstration school for rule-based governance by the autonomous region and a demonstration school for party building work (the first and only vocational college in Guangxi). It has been rated as an outstanding unit for graduate employment and entrepreneurship work in Guangxi's universities for 22 consecutive years.

GTVTC currently has three campuses, i.e., Kunlun, Yuanhu, and Xiangsihu, covering a total area of over 2700 mu (1.8 million square meters), with 28,000 full-time students enrolled.

GTVTC is committed to building a high-quality professional and innovative teaching team, with over 34% of faculty members holding senior professional titles, 55.57% holding master's degrees or above, 81.42% having dual teacher qualifications, and 292 industry mentors. GTVTC currently boasts a national vocational college teacher teaching innovation team, a national curriculum ideological and political teaching team, a national level automotive inspection and maintenance technology team, and 17 autonomous region level teaching teams, including a Huang Danian style teaching team of universities in Guangxi. It is also awarded as Guangxi Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base and has a group of high-level talents, whose honorary titles include national transportation technology experts, national course ideological and political education masters, young talents of the Ministry of Transport in transportation science and technology, and teaching masters of universities in Guangxi.

GTVTC consists of teaching units, which include School of Road and Bridge Engineering, School of Automotive Engineering, School of Economics and Management, School of Transport, School of Artificial Intelligence, School of Intelligent Construction and Low-altitude Technology, School of Navigation Engineering, ASEAN International School, School of Marxism, Department of General Education, and Department of Physical Education; and business companies, which include Guangxi Jiaoyuan Driving School Training Co., Ltd, Guangxi Dongxi Wantong International Logistics Co., Ltd, etc.

Closely keeping up with the development, adjustment, and optimization of the transportation industry, GTVTC offers 48 academic programs, which cover 8 major transportation professional groups such as road and bridge, automobile, logistics, transportation information, rail transit, and port and navigation. It has created a distinctive transportation professional system and has become a national backbone major, a demonstration characteristic major and training base in Guangxi, and a research base for the development of vocational education majors in Guangxi. GTVTC boasts 2 national vocational college demonstration majors and 6 autonomous region vocational education demonstration characteristic majors; It has also 4 national demonstration training bases aided by the central government's financial support, 2 national production training bases, 1 national demonstration virtual simulation training base, 2 demonstration training bases of the Ministry of Transport, 8 autonomous region demonstration training bases, and 503 off campus practical teaching places. Over the past five years, GTVTC has won over 100 national level achievements, honors or titles, including the National Advanced Collective in Textbooks, the National Teaching Achievement Award, the National Textbook Construction Award, the Teaching Team, online high-quality courses, and the First Prize in Skills Competition.

GTVTC vigorously promotes the deep integration of industry and education, and the school-enterprise collaborative education. In 2008, GTVTC took the lead in establishing a school-enterprise cooperation development council in vocational colleges in Guangxi. In 2016, it became the secretary-general unit of the Guangxi Transportation Industry Vocational Education Teaching Guidance Committee. In 2018, the Guangxi Transportation Vocational Education Group, led by GTVTC, was successively approved as one of the "first batch of demonstration vocational education groups in Guangxi" and a "cultivation unit for national demonstration vocational education group". Continuously deepening the innovative talent training model, focusing on enhancing the contribution to the revitalization of Guangxi's industries, GTVTC jointly opens 14 industrial colleges with well-known companies, and builds 6 types of shared campus teaching workshops and establishes construction standards cooperates with industry and enterprises. It also offers partnership educational programs with leading companies such as Guangxi Beibu Gulf Investment Group, and 24 internationally renowned companies such as Volkswagen of Germany and KONE of Finland.

Fully leveraging its educational resources and intellectual advantages, enhancing its ability to serve economic and social development and  transportation industry of Guangxi, GTVTC has established a "province-department-college" three-tier technology research and development platform, jointly built 13 provincial-level and ministerial level technology innovation platforms, including the Guangxi Underwater Rock Breaking Engineering Research Center, the Automotive Mechatronics Collaborative Innovation Center, and the New Generation Transportation Infrastructure Green Intelligent Construction and Management Technology and Industrialization Innovation Alliance. It has also created 8 training platforms, including the China-ASEAN (Guangxi) Transport Education and Training Center. Relying on the 'One Line, Three Bodies' cooperation platform, GTVTC works together with government, industry, and enterprises to promote regional integration of the Nanning Electronic Information Industry-Education Integration Body, industry-specific integration of the Guangxi Transportation Industry-Education Integration Community, and international integration of the China-ASEAN Smart Port and Shipping Industry-Education Integration Community, thus establishing a new mechanism for industry-education integration characterized by regional coordination, industry collaboration, and international exchange.

Adhering to the principle of open education, as one of the first batch of international (regional) exchange and cooperation pilot colleges in Guangxi and the vice chairman unit of the China-ASEAN Transport Vocational Education Alliance, GTVTC actively responds to the "Belt and Road Initiative", vigorously carries out international (regional) exchanges and cooperation, and has jointly carried out exchanges and cooperation in technical skills training and services, international student training, partnership programs, cultural exchanges and other fields with 32 universities and companies in 17 countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, India, Thailand, Myanmar, and the region of Taiwan. The 'West Reference-Middle Integration-East Transfer' international cooperation and exchange achievements won the second prize in the 2022 National Vocational Education Teaching Achievements Award. The school was selected as a 'Demonstration Unit for the Development of Vocational Standards in Laos' and received the 'Outstanding Cooperation Award between China and Southeast Asia' and the 'Outstanding Contribution Award for Sino-Pakistan Educational International Cooperation'.
